  1. I loved this podcast. Just to let you know that there are places in England where the form of football you describe is still played. Two villages will play the game. No pitch. No rules. The object is usually to get the ball to the other side’s village. It is a form of melay.

    Also, we in the UK still use the name Draughts for the board game you Americans call checkers. And, yes, we do pronounce it Drafts.

    Also, games like Nine Mens Morris and Ducks and Drakes are still around.

    Also, Backgammon was a popular game. Although it was known then as tables. Chaucer refers to it under this name.
