Today we’re wrapping up the Staffordshire Hoard project. We have been given an amazing amount of depth and detail thanks to the wonderful experts who took the time to talk with us. And today, we’re going to hear from Dr. Kevin Leahy. You might have read his scholarly articles or his books, some of which are about the Hoard itself. Dr. Leahy is an incredible resource and is an excellent way for us to wrap up this project.

Great picture there.
Interesting theory that it might be an offering.
What was the poem he referenced towards the end, the one in ancient Welsh? Between the accent and the phone connection, I couldn’t quite make it out.
Gah, I can’t remember. I’ll have to have a relisten sometime soon and figure it out.
Great show! Did you ever get the name of the poem that Dr. Kevin Leahy quoted? Super cool! Hey if your ever in Hood River lets grab some coffee!
Unfortunately no. And coffee? You’ve got Double Mountain Brewery up there!
As someone who is about to finish cataloging a fairly large archival collection- not 3000 pieces large!, but large enough- I completely understand the need to keep those accession numbers straight. The struggle is real.
Also the poem referenced, I believe, was The Death Song of Cynddylan.
