I represent a family of Canadians who recently moved to the North East of England and discovered the British History Podcast as a great way to pass the time on the school-run.We love history.  It's amazing to hear about places like Bamburgh and Hadrian's Wall and be able to head over to see them in an afternoon. We're continually struck by the layers and layers of history all around us - in the environment but also in the culture. We love the podcast and can't wait for the arrival of The Vikings (Yes, with some shame we also like the T.V. show.).

Hello “family of Canadians”!  ;)I'm so pleased that you're enjoying the show... and don't feel bad about enjoying Vikings, just keep in mind that it is stunningly inaccurate (even for the History Channel).  Welcome to the community!

go and see Hexham – have a look for musket ball holes in the market place, go and see the crypt in the Abbey and see if you can spot the original bricks at the bottom of the Abbey – the Vikings ruined the first one
