This book is in progress, and it looks awesome. According to the blurb, it is “a post-apocalyptic novel set in 1066.” Gotta love that!

I'm not at all sure about the constructed language.

Well it's 2015 now and the book is out, nominated for the booker prize last year. I read it and I would recommend it to anyone who likes the bhp. The language is admittedly a mix and not intended to be anything ever spoken by real people, but at a minimum a very interesting intellectual exercise to read. I was convinced by the author that his pseudo language does add a lot to historical fiction and it should be weird to read historical fiction in modern English. Just like it would be weird if the Nazi's didn't have German accents in an Indiana Jones movie. I didn't love the book it's not lovable. It felt a little like reading Norman Mailer you have to admit it may have greatness, but it's difficult to like.I'd be interested if anyone else has read it?
