Hello everyone,I'd been wondering how long it would take for a Saxon boat (keel type) to cross the Channel. I am terrible at maths and know even less about boats, so if anyone has a clue, I'd be great for some help. Thanks!S.
The Channel is Just over 20 miles at the narrowest. Modern rowers take about 5 or 6 hours to cross (about 4 miles per hour), so I would say that a saxon longboat would be roughly similar although with a following wind and a sail they could get up to 10 miles per hour.
