HiMy name is Peter and I live in London UK. My main areas of historical interest are Iron Age, Roman and Dark Ages although I also have a bunch of others such as Napoleonic military history and the ancient history of the area which is now the Midlle East eg Babylon, Assyria, Sumaria, Judah etc.My other hobbies include Natural history, painting, photography and travel and oh if I only didnt have to work (medical research scientist) then I could do so much more although I must confess that I am fortunate as my job has allowed me to visit many countries I would not have been able to if I had to pay for it myself. I always try to make the most of these trips and get to visit local museums; castles etc as time allows.

I have to say that sounds like a pretty fantastic job!  Not to mention that you live near some of the best museums in the world.  Overall, I'm pretty jealous.  ;)Welcome to the forums, and thanks for sharing the photos of the Roman reenactors!

Hey Peter,We share some similar interests.  Also a fan of your Roman history re-enactors.  I have a book that goes into the various permutations the Roman legions went through over the centuries, instead of the usual early 2nd century AD vision people seem to use for all time periods.  I look forward to more of your posts!

Yes there are many advantages to living in or near to London and that is definitely one of them. My favorite is the British Museum. I find it very relaxing to just wander around the galleries.

I like the British Museum. I only live an hour and half away by train but I don't get to London as often I would like. I can literally spend hours in these places. My favourites are the Natural History Museum and the National Gallery.

My wife and I sometimes go the 'late night' on Fridays at the National Gallery as we both work in central London and so can go straight from work and the gallery is open till 8.30.
