Hiya New BHP Friends! Bretwalda Here I Come: I started listening about a year ago. I told myself if I got caught up with all the episodes and was still interested it would be worth it to become a member. Who was I kidding!? It's worth that and so much more! I'm stoked to get caught up on all the Members Only episodes now. I can't wait!Me vs. History: History was ridiculously boring in school. I was pretty sure the subject was taught by people who didn't actually like teaching, but couldn't think of anything else to do. Outside of school I'd always been a big fan of storytelling (theatre nerd!), and was/still am an avid reader. I pretty much can't live without classic literature. Then I discovered The BHP and realized, "Oh yeah, I freaking LOVE history!" I wish teachers in school had half of Jaime's passion. How different my experience would have been! Now, I can't get enough of All of the History!!About Me: This is also my first venture into forum life, so I'm open to ALL suggestions! I'm looking forward to some great discussions and, hopefully, making some really awesome new friends! I promise I'm real nice...plus I have Rainbow Hair... so whaddya got to lose!?  ;)The End.

Hello there! It seems like you had all the wrong history teachers, but isn't it so rewarding when you find out how interesting history can be?Also, welcome to forum life! It can be quite fun/interesting/informative, too!

Hey there, welcome fellow new member!I too hated history in high school. I knew more than the majority of my teachers. What new content I learned wasn't much from them. They didn't like teaching (they were all coaches) and didn't really know the content. The fact that I became a history major in college was a bit surprising. I've always enjoyed the topic, but my experiences early on nearly killed it for me. It took one amazing teacher, who Jamie actually reminds me of a little bit with his style in the podcasts, to change my perception and to pick it for a future career, as a high school teacher.

Hey hey, drama geek over here!  (Only one in my class to letter in Drama, yeah, whaaat.)I'm glad Jamie reminded you how cool history actually is.  Lame teachers ruined many a student on the subject, but podcasts are bringing it back. Welcome!!

I've always loved history, but not so much in school. Mostly I just read a lot. I got more into school history once I got to college and had professors who were more competent and interesting. Jamie said on one of these forum posts that he didn't really want to teach history because he wouldn't be able to do it that way he wants to. I think he is spot on. This podcast is the perfect place for him! ~Jesi
