(At least I think I can just about get away with saying Holland – I'm on a train moving into the non-Holland part of The Netherlands.)But hello and good morning. My name is MJ (short for Marjolein) and you might say I'm a long-time listener, first-time caller. As you may have gathered from my name, I'm Dutch. But I have always been a bit of an anglophile. I was probably the only one in my class who took our teacher's advice to heart and started listening to the BBC World Service. (It's a gateway drug, I tell you!)After that, I studied history at University (specialising in much more recent times than BHP is currently covering), but never did anything with it professionally. I've worked for insurers and am now with a bank. Inbetween I had a spell at sub-editing and then editing an (association) football magazine. That's all I can think of right now, or at least all that's somewhat relevant to this podcast and forum. If you want to know more, all you have to do is ask!

Hi MJ!  Thank you so much for supporting the project! What time frame did you specialize in?  Also, now that I know a magazine editor is following the show, I'm going to have to be much more careful with my grammar and syntax. ;)Welcome to the community!

Don't worry, the editing was in Dutch anyway. I specialised in very recent history, from 1870 onwards – but that was mostly because they wouldn't let me tackle something as broad as BHP.
