Hello all,My name is Ben, just started listening to the show about 2 months ago and have been working my way through the back episodes. I'm a massive podcast fan, I listen to about 8 hours a day while at work, and I listen to most of the other history ones. I started off with Mike Duncans The History of Rome, and it really sparked in me something that I didn't entirely realise was there, a huge love of history. Sinmce then I've sought out and absorbed everything I could get my hands on to do with ancient civilizations. It just turns out I had rubbish history teachers at school and that's why I didn't like it, or girls or something, I dunno. My specialties are Mesopotamia, so Assyria, Babylon and persia, Rome and the Byzantines.  I'm also thoroughly versed in bible history, quite a bit of egyptian and have some knowledge of the World Wars but, not as in depth. Sorry, that last bit sounded super braggy, just thought i'd let you guys know I like my research but, also which topics you can use to start hour long discussions with me :-PI'm really enjoying the show so far, especially at this time period as its about to start covering a period where there is a massive gap in my knowledge, so I'm looking forward to it quite a lot.I have a few history projects of my own slowly building up steam in the old head space, most of them are just waiting for my self-imposed critical mass of stored information where I feel confident enough to go on record, lol.I like many other things, Football (soccer), video gaming and music. Love my stand-up comedy and comedy podcasts as well as a good bit of sci-fi, I was brought up on The Next Generation, Quantum Leap and Star Wars. That's right, capital N nerd :-PSo, who are you? :-)

Well, I listen to most of those, JJGo! Was one of the first I got hooked on. Max fun is awesome! Have you listened too My Brother my Brother and Me yet? Its the best, soooo damn funny, I put it off for ages, I shouldn't have.I also really really like, Uhh Yeah Dude, their getting close to 350 eps and their one of my favourites. The Giantbombcast is also a super hilarious, but really informative video gaming show well worth a listen if you play games. I'm always looking for more to listen too as I'm always running out! Lol

Ben,Welcome.  Your description of being turned on to history fits some of my feelings precisely.  I got fairly good but uninspiring history through school.  I am psyched to be part of this forum and glad you are enjoying it.Picard.Laura

Picard all the way, I was just old enough to start understanding more 'grownup' tv the the first time the series were on so Mr Patrick Stuart was a big part of my childhood. The Bugle is the best Jamie, stop procrastinating!I think that's a massive part of the draw of podcast Laura, for any subject, if your dedicated enough to start a podcast, your probably excited about the subject. And excited people make the best teachers as its infectious, and it draws people in. Charisma is 45% Knowledge 45% Enthusiasm and 10% composure.

Recently started rewatching TNG from the beginning, what a show! You just can't beat it.Itss gonna take slightly longer than my 2 month Stargate SG1 marathon, as I'm havving to pick up the boxsets as and when I can afford them, but I can tell I'm gonna churn through these!
