After a good sleep, some paracetamol, a pint of water and lunch I started to feel a little more human after last night's loud, successful and alcohol-fuelled meet in London with Jamie, Zee and a group of pretty amazing guys and girls. I had an excellent time as did, I am sure, everyone else who turned up to chat with Jamie, who incidentally is even funnier in person. I think Alex made a name for himself and there were some pretty interesting conversations going on covering a wide variety of topics, not all history based. I can't believe I still didn't really get to talk in much detail to Jamie properly re the timeline but will email about that soon......and I hope I didn't bore Zee or Haylee (and partner) too much with my babble as I can talk quite a bit when I have had a few pints. All in all a great and memorable evening and I very much look forward to the next time this is possible.I am gutted though I didn't take any photos so did anyone actually manage to get a snap or two of the evening they can show here?

That was an absolute blast!  It felt like having a party with a bunch of friends, which was exactly what I was hoping for.  I'll have to return soon and see you all again.  That was too much fun to only visit once. :)As for photos, this doesn't show everyone, but it's the only photo I have from that night (I blame the pints for that lapse).  Does anyone else have some photos?

Hmm I seem to be only half committed to this photo!!!I think Jamie needs to a show with Dan Carlin as a special cage match

Jamie, at least you thought ahead just enough to get one photo. Who took by the way, I don't remember? I completely forgot and I had a compact camera with me (used it to take some photos of the newly built Bomber Command memorial). We look like a happy bunch though don't we  :DWho is the half committed person? Apart from Haylee and Zee (and abviously Jamie) I can't remember people's name.....sorry, crap at remembering names  :-

Dan Carlin in the cage match would be awesome!

That burger you had looked darn tasty and I was soooo hungry at the time but like a fool I never got round to ordering anything, carried on drinking instead.....that would explain why I was a little sloshed by the end of the night  :o

Yes, I remember now. You stayed to the very end. Gotta try and remember people's names.

Ha! You should've seen the look I got from one lady when I tried to get a (last) pint from around the time they wanted to kick out from the gallery......couldn't wait to get rid of us......but it could have been just the loud American in the corner  ;D ;D

Bit belated but it really was fantastic to meet such a great group of like minded people! We should really do it again very soon! That is a pretty good pic Jamie, pity it was the only one of the night, everyone was too busy chatting away!

Dont worry Chris, I most certainly wasnt bored, and even Howard enjoyed himself for non-BHP listener!Jamie, any idea when you will be returning by any chance? I sadly have to return to my motherland in March  :'( but will be back for a visit & more travelling within 2013-2014, I love the UK too much to stay away for long!

It would be great to meet up with everyone again and maybe make it a six-monthly event or something until Jamie can come over. What would be cool if we could set up a video conference (in the pub of course) via a laptop and skype and have a small group chatting for a while with Jamie, making note of the time difference which is what, about 9 hours or so? Failing that, just another meet and chatting about anything seems pretty cool.

That's always good to know. There's not many things worse in group meet up than listening to someone monologue about their travels and you never get a word in. You wouldn't believe I am normally very quiet  ;)

Is there the tiniest possibility that we are actually members of the IT Crowd?

Hahaha, a video thing while you're all drinking at a pub sounds like it could be hilarious.  And at the very least, it will provide a stop-gap measure until I can get back there and hang out with all of you again. :)

I think there are some of us that certainly fit the criteria  ;)(anyone not aware of the IT Crowd should definitely check it out....weirdly funny!!)

It would be pretty awesome but doubtful it would happen. Another meet in London sometime in 2013 is something both Alex and I would consider going to again if others were serious about it. Something to consider.

Agreed. I would love a repeat of the meet up with as many people as possible. Don't know why Chris is pessimistic about it. I'm sure we can arrange something for 2013. We could say meet at the same pub as last time (The staff would be so happy to see us  ;D)? We would also have to be plan around Jamie's schedule if he wants to join us via Skype as it's -8 hours from GMT to Portland. Of course it's a poor substitute for his actual presence but better than nothing. Not sure if that makes us the IT Crowd. Probably more like the Big Bang Theory, just less science more history.

I'm definitely up for doing something like that again was a good laugh.

At the gentle rate Jamie is going with the podcast you will be old enough for a meet up in the same pub in 2018.....we might have reached the War of the Roses by then!  ;)

If the redhead to Jamie's left is his wife, he has certainly outpunted his coverage.
