I wondered at the digression about the potion the warrior drank that should have made him seem to be dead for 24 hours. It made me think of the potion in Romeo and Juliet that makes Romeo think Juliet is dead. Why was that in the story? It doesn't progress the plot as it doesn't work on the warrior. Was it just a way to tell us he's made of sterner stuff and must be threatened with the comfy chair? Was there once more to the story that has been lost?
