Just started seriously listening to this (I tried before and quit), I found it quite difficult to follow because of Mike Duncan's style. (BHP is much more listenable to) I find now I have to listen to each episode multiple times before moving on to the next one, but in the end it's worth is as it is really good. I got through the first 10 episodes listening to each about 5 times each. It doesn't really matter really though as i'm not in a rush. What prompted me to try it again was listening to Dan Carlin's Death Throes of the republic right the way through, which is brilliant and very listenable like the BHP. This made me want to listen to a podcast about Rome that started from the beginning.I started reading Simon Bakers Ancient Rome: The Rise and Fall of an Empire after trying to read Edward Gibbon's The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire but that late 18th century writing was too much for me to follow. It's a shame as I want to read those books but it's such a tough read. Maybe one day.
