I’ve been listening for years (basically from the beginning) and find every episode just as interesting and intriguing as the last. Jamie does such a wonderful job of packing in so much detail and analysis (which I love as a detail orientated person) without it feeling too much...also it’s pretty funny and light hearted to! I finally signed up for a membership today and have been binging the members only content, which I can now say gives so much more context and detail. If you’re a history buff, I highly recommend this podcast �

By far the best podcast for pre-Norman British History. Even though 99% of the Roman and Anglo-Saxon ages do not exist in pop-culture, this podcast still makes you feel like you are encountering an incredible story. You don't even care anymore that you're not onto the famous kings & queens yet, because the stories preceding them are so engrossing. The podcast always takes a critical look at everything, and clearly explains what evidence that does and does not exist, which is refreshing in comparison to pop-history that just wants to make a statement on toughness or honor or other such moralistic messages.

Very informative but entertaining as well! I have been listening for little over a year. Reminds me of a history teacher I had in 6th or 7th grade. An old guy that truly loved history. And knew things most didn't.

I can't say enough good things about the BHP. This is not a list of events, it's a story. Actually, many stories intertwined, and tremendous fun too. I tend to binge-listen for hours at a time and totally love the informal but very detailed way Jamie tells his stories. Not to mention all the context and social commentary, which is absolutely fascinating.

Plenty of detail. Great conversational format. Personable host who is honest about his sources and is sure to always point out when information is spotty or unreliable (which is often the case during the periods before Rome through the early Anglo-Saxon era.) Two thumbs up. I decided to start at the beginning and am currently in the time of Penda. Can't wait to get caught up.
