So, well, I've injured my Achilles tendon. Not the done thing, of course, but there you have it. I'm undergoing physical therapy. I'll be right as rain soon, but, you see, it seems that physical therapy for Achilles tendons in Ecuador has a few surprises. I understand the ultrasound, the heat wraps, even the electrical stimulator. . . but this morning the therapist had me put my foot into paraffin. The only other time I've ever done that is for a pedicure. It makes the skin soft. So how, you may well ask, is it expected to help heal my tendon? I haven't a clue.
