BTW I was sort of surprised in this episode that the other traditional English gin drink, pink gin, was not mentioned. I used to see British military types drinking this in pubs. Basically the way I saw it made was gin with a sugar cube soaked in bitters was dropped in. I understand the traditional way to make is with a sweater gin and just the bitters. The sugar cube was probably used because most bar gins are the dry London type of gin and the sugar sweetened it up. An idea for a future adult beverage episode should of course focus on good English beer! I know we have talked about the role of beer but a more modern discussion might be interesting as well.
