This would make a great episode. Unlike yourself Laura I know absolutely nothing about archaeology but have always been interested in watching it. I have seen enough Time Team to notice that when an archaeologist comes across a find and knows from what era or period it is from, they are basing this on sheer hard work, years of study and being in the field, not to mention all the long hours of reading and research when not digging. I find it amazing to see a pottery expert look at a tiny crud-covered 2000 year old fragment of pot and say yes, this is a such and such piece that was used for storing grain etc etc. This blows my mind and I find it fascinating to watch.I would certainly like to learn more about the archaeological evidence and how we look at (and interpret) it.
