I have been to Ocracoke as well. The locals do have a distinct interesting accent. Also there is an island in the South Atlantic called Tristian da Cunha (I have never personally been there) but I have heard the people speak on a BBC segment on the island. They also have a very distinct sounding English, It has that 18th century English sailor sound too it.
