  1. It actually makes sense that cow milking is done by the lady of the house. Depending on how well bred the cow is, it could need milking twice a day. Also, since there weren’t refrigerators or pasteurizers, the milk would’ve been used quickly either in cooking or drinking. If the man is out working the field, which may or may not be nearby, it could be a big hassle to milk the cows.
