Wow. I’m an avocational archaeologist and a writer, and I watched the Dig and more or less enjoyed it for what it was. From the archaeology work I’ve done, I realized they were compressing time and over-simplifying everything, though I wouldn’t necessarily expect the average person to know that.
But hearing what REALLY happened and how much they messed with the story blew my mind. I don’t imagine I’ll be able to watch it again, knowing what I know now. I even surprised myself by how incensed I was that they wrote out the two women photographers! I totally want to hear THEIR stories!
Along those lines, can you recommend some books that I can read that give the REAL story of Sutton Hoo?
Thanks so much, Jamie!
